I miss drawing comics

Over a decade ago I took a little “break” from creating comic books. I did other things. It was fun. But nothing beats comics.
Right at the time I needed a break from comics, YouTube and Instagram had just started to blow up. It was the perfect distraction for me. So I became obsessed with the medium of video, cameras, microphones, online content, essays, podcasting, film-making and music. You name it. I tinkered online with everyone else. I was having fun with the entire world. I made a few friends. I had a blast… but somehow it never felt like home.
Unlike comic books, content creation never felt like a natural fit for me. I was always trying to ‘fit in’ with it’s process. Constantly trying to keep up and connect in ‘just the right way’ for the ever-changing online machine. I felt like I’d gone from playing in a rock band (comics), to now working at 7 Eleven (social media).
There’s just something extremely satisfying about bringing a blank page to life with only a pencil and your imagination.
Who knows? Maybe I needed the contrast of being away from the medium of comics to appreciate it again. Or maybe there’s no reason at all.
I’m just glad I jumped in the deep end again.
